Our Lady of Sorrows Jornada Group meets every Friday nights starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Church Hall. We unite to speak about the Bible (themes), how it relates to today's world, to sing and have fun.
What is a Jornadista (J) and a Pre-Jornadista (Pre-J)?
JORNADISTA: A Jornadista is a person who has been selected by the Lord to go on a Journey (Jornada) in order to receive knowledge of life and be able to handle all the bumps and turns that the path of life has to offer in a positive and CHRIST-like manner. A Jornadista is a person who has been through this 4-day journey and received the tools that the Lord has put to their disposal and uses these tools to further spread the knowledge of the Lord to all who need to know and want to know. A Jornadista has a number to represent the Jornada they have done. For example, Jornada 140, so the person living the jornada after would have the number 141, and so forth. The Jornada is a 4-day retreat, and it is separated by sex (Males and Females). All Jornadistas are here to help one another and to help the Pre-J's with anything they need help with.
PRE-JORNADISTA: A Pre-Jornadista is a person who has not been through the 4-day Journey and has not received the tools that the Lord gives to those who go on this retreat. Those that have not been through this journey are Pre-J's, whether they go to the group, don't go to the group, or don't even know about the group. A Pre-J is someone who is still learning of their religion and of their group and has not been chosen by the Lord to live their Jornada. In order to live their Jornada a Pre-J has to be baptized and received Communion. They also have to be active for at least 6 months (active is to attend group events and participate during charlas), they have to be 16 years of age and have to have done at least one Charla.
For the Pre-J's and J's, it is our job and followers of Christ to go out and try to bring in as many other Pre-J's as possible.
